A lot of people use webcams to communicate over Skype or other similar applications. The problem is that the webcam can become dull and boring over time and it's a good idea to add some real-time effects to the live video. Take CyberLink YouCam, for example. It's a Windows application which can add a large number of effects to any webcam in real-time. After installing the application, the user will first need to select the desired webcam from the program's options section. After completing this step, he will be able to personalize his webcam to the video, by choosing from a large number of available effects.

For making it easier to find a specific one, all the effects are organized in several groups. They range from adding a virtual background to your camera to changing the shape of your face and so on. But the functionality of CyberLink YouCam doesn't stop here, as there are also some utilities which allow you to record a webcam session, display two webcams at the same time, side by side, and even configure Windows to log in using face-detection instead of entering a password.

There is also a surveillance feature available, which includes motion-detection and can automatically trigger the recording process.
